The Eck Institute for Global Health brings together a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students from science, engineering, social sciences, and other disciplines whose research addresses global health challenges.
Institutional Priorities
Rooted in our fundamental recognition that health is a basic human right, we foster collaborations with global partners in academia, the corporate sector, non-governmental organizations, and government agencies. This enables us to develop innovative solutions and build upon the University of Notre Dame’s historic strengths and institutional priorities.
As our affiliated and core researchers embark on studies that seek to answer a variety of global health questions and challenges, we focus our collaborations on infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, maternal, newborn, and child health, and global health security.
Focus Locations
The Eck Institute for Global Health has four long-term geographic partnership platforms―three international and one domestic. The international locations reflect Notre Dame’s significant past and present research engagement in these locations, each country’s high-end institutional capability, as well as the capacity for new and ongoing research.
Locally, the advancement of global health research begins at home as we mind the health and well-being of the Indiana community that surrounds the Notre Dame campus.
Together, these four locations—Kenya, Bangladesh, Mexico, and the state of Indiana—provide opportunities to build sustainable, in-depth, and reciprocal partnerships to address health challenges.

African Center for hrp2/3 Deletion Surveillance (ACHIDES)
