Being awarded the fellowship is both a recognition of achievement and a commitment to active participation in the Institute.

Selection

Exceptional students will be selected based on:

  1. Academic standing: GPA and scholarly activities (publications and conference presentations)
  2. Merit of their research program: Research progress and goals
  3. Relevance of the research to the mission of the Eck Institute for Global Health

Acceptance Conditions

Fellows shall:

  • Maintain good academic standing during their fellowship period
  • Meet regularly with their faculty advisor
  • Meet once per semester with the directors of the Eck Institute for Global Health
  • Register for, attend, and present at Notre Dame's annual Global Health Day hosted by the Eck Institute for Global Health
  • Submit an application for second-year funding that includes: Academic standing (GPA); research progress; research goals for second year; documentation of other training activities; justification for second year of support; and letter of support from their faculty advisor(s). If fellows do not intend to apply for a second year of support, they must inform the Eck Institute directors and perform an exit interview at the end of the fellowship.
