Guiding students to lead solutions for health equity in communities worldwide
The Eck Institute for Global Health is training the next generation of global health leaders and researchers through formal education programs, coursework, group activities, guest speakers, and annual events. The Institute provides Notre Dame students with various educational opportunities and helps them build essential skills through immersive experiences that foster collaboration and authentic engagement in global health.
In addition to creating avenues for students to network with their peers, faculty, and other global health experts, the Institute also provides students with mentorship, resources, and first-hand knowledge of relevant global health opportunities on campus and beyond.
Students from all majors are welcome to explore their interests in global health. From campus-based courses, research, and service activities to research abroad, there are many ways to learn about and make an impact for global good.
The Master of Science in Global Health program is currently paused and not accepting nor processing applications. Current students are continuing with the program uninterrupted.
PhD students who work with our affiliated faculty have access to first-class training, mentorship by renowned scientists, as well as exciting interdisciplinary opportunities.
From Our Students
Entering Notre Dame as a pre-med major, I felt certain I knew the direction that I wanted my life to take. However, during my senior year, I began to question whether a career in medicine was the right path for me. Once I heard about the Master of Science in Global Health program, something inside me clicked, and I knew global health and epidemiology were where my passion lies. This program allowed me to utilize and gain skills outside the classroom in a real-world setting and has set me up to be a success in my professional career.

Courses through the Global Health Minor and activities within the Global Health Club have allowed me to grapple with health systems both in the United States and globally. From these studies, I have gained insight into how to promote health equity, sustainable partnerships, and structural change. As I apply to medical school, I will carry these lessons with me, informing how I hope to become an advocacy-based, global-minded leader.
