Dr. Mary Ann McDowell, member of the Eck Institute for Global Health was the lead author on a Policy Platform article recently published in PloS Neglected Tropical Diseases, regarding leishmaniasis in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).  The policy reforms requested in the document reflect the outcome of an interdisciplinary workshop of approximately 100 scientists and administrators from the United States and countries in the MENA region.
 
“Leishmaniasis: Middle East and North Africa Research and Development Priorities” was recently published by the journal Public Library of Science Neglected Tropical Diseases (PLoS NTDs). This manuscript puts forth policy recommendations as a result of an international scientific workshop that was organized by NIAID.
