A discussion hosted by Melinda Gormley

Melinda Gormley, Assistant Director for Research, Reilly Center for Science, Technology and Values, University of Notre Dame

Have you ever asked someone about their research, gotten a long explanation and still walked away unclear on what the person does?

When working on a long-term project you can get so focused on the details that it’s hard to talk about your research in a way that others can relate to.

This session will give you a tool for communicating your research concisely while making it relevant to your peers as well as those outside your discipline.

Use it to develop a grant proposal, devise your elevator pitch, design a web profile, prepare for an interview, and much more. It’ll keep you from sharing the wrong details or going on for too long.

Other topics to be covered are professional attire and etiquette.
