Tim Weber joined the Eck Institute for Global Health in 2023 as Associate Director. Tim is a 1989 graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor of business administration degree. He served in the Navy for 33 years specializing in healthcare management, policy, and resourcing; medical research and development leadership; strategic planning; crisis management; and legislative affairs. Tim held positions in Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, California, and Japan. He has a master’s of science degree from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA.
During his military career, Tim deployed to Afghanistan as the senior advisor to the Afghan National Police healthcare system and its Surgeon General. Additionally, he served as commanding officer (CEO) of the U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, Japan. Before his military retirement in 2022 as a Rear Admiral, he commanded Naval Medical Forces Pacific. In this role, he had direct oversight of 10 Naval hospitals and two dental centers across the Pacific Rim and eight medical research and development laboratories around the globe. Concurrently, Tim was responsible for the professional development of 3,100 Navy officers in 31 different clinical, scientific, and administrative specialties. Before joining the Eck Institute, Tim completed Notre Dame’s Inspired Leadership Institute fellowship with studies in global health, international development, peace studies, and political science.
