Dive into Notre Dame Research during the Alumni Reunion on June 3

Notre Dame Research will be participating in the Alumni Association’s Annual Reunion event on the first Friday of June on the third floor of the Main Building. From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the dome will be open to tours, where several offices will open their doors to alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the University. Additionally, other buildings on campus will also be open for tours throughout the day.

The Eck Institute for Global Health recognizes outstanding Notre Dame faculty members

The University of Notre Dame’s Eck Institute for Global Health is a cross-disciplinary group of faculty whose research and teaching are dedicated toward finding and implementing solutions to global health challenges.  Over 85 faculty serve the Institute’s global mission to promote research, training and service to advance health standards for all people, especially people of low- and middle-income countries and communities. This past year, five Eck Institute for Global Health faculty members were recognized and promoted within their respective departments and one moved to emeritus status.  …

Using Mathematical Models to Fight the Zika Virus

New Notre Dame Research will be used to generate maps that provide time-sensitive estimates of mosquito densities, human birth rates, and Zika transmission activity across Latin America and the Caribbean. The model outputs will be available online to provide users with the ability to find reported cases and estimated incidences by location to improve disease transmission and prevalence forecasts, which is critical to making accurate predictions and translating results into effective public health strategies.…

Notre Dame Biology student recognized for outstanding contributions to science

Graduating Biology major, Diane Choi, is being honored with multiple academic achievement awards as the Class of 2016 prepares for graduation. Choi is the recipient of three major undergraduate awards for her work while a science student at Notre Dame.   The awards include the: Outstanding Biology Student Leader Award from the Department of Biological Sciences recognizing “a senior Biology major who has made outstanding contributions, through leadership and service, to advance the interests of other students in the department;”…
