At the hospital, my research team and I searched through nearly 6,000 records for relevant information on maternal care. However, because of the record room’s poor organization and inaccurate record keeping, I had difficulty discerning which files were even worth referencing.

Master of Science in Global Health student, Julia Le, blogged for Makerere University's Centre for Excellence for Maternal Newborn and Child Health about her experiences collecting data in Ugandan hospitals. Julia is currently completing her Capstone project in Uganda in partnership with Makerere University, and she will graduate this July.
