Geoffrey Siwo joined the University of Notre Dame in 2017 as a research assistant professor at the Center for Research Computing and the Eck Institute for Global Health. Geoffrey’s research focuses on developing scalable technologies for solving important biomedical challenges using a combination of approaches including genome editing, machine learning/artificial intelligence, emerging computational technologies, and frameworks for scientific discovery such as open innovation. Previously, he was a team leader for the Data Driven Healthcare group at IBM Research Africa in South Africa and a research scientist at the IBM TJ Watson Research Center in New York. He performed postdoctoral research at the Dartmouth College Geisel School of Medicine and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.  He received his PhD from the Ferdig Lab at the University of Notre Dame in 2014. His work has led to a number of publications, patents, international awards, media coverage, and startups.
