EIGH Visits Washington, DC and Connects with Fellow Global Health Professionals

EIGH faculty, students, and staff attended the ever growing and popular Consortium of Universities for Global Health in Washington, DC, last March. Since its inception, EIGH leadership have attended the annual gathering. Katherine Taylor, PhD, EIGH Director of Operations notes, "When this concept first started there was just a handful of universities in attendance at the first gathering in San Francisco in 2008. The term Global Health was a fairly new concept, though Notre Dame researchers have been at the forefront of neglected and tropical infectious diseases research both in the lab and in the filed for over 70 years. The consortium has rapidly grown and attending is always a positive experience."

There was a lot of activity at the EIGH promotional table where we shared information on the Institute and our Master of Science in Global Health program with the 1300 attendees. We ended the meeting with a rather spontaneous social gathering of EIGH attendees, Notre Dame alumni, and friends of the EIGH, including Notre Dame students in Washington, DC, for the experiential ND Science Policy Ethics Seminar. It was a wonderful way to connect old friends and new in the name of global health and Notre Dame.

Join us next year for our CUGH Notre Dame alumni gathering in Washington, DC. Dates of the conference are to be determined. To get on the notification list, please email Kim Bogold at eigh@nd.edu.
